Why Do Garage Door Repairs Always Seem to Take Too Long?

Is There Anything Easy
When It Comes to Garage Door Repairs?

At Titan Doors and Gates our business is based on being ready to help you…the homeowners and businesses in a bind and with a non-functioning garage door. You need someone that can perform garage door repairs…as quickly as possible. Why is this so hard?

The Short Answer:

If your garage door is maintained properly, it shouldn’t always need repair. However, these are the types of issues that we see most often:

  • Something is out of alignment
  • Poor or lack of proper lubrication to needed parts
  • Repair or replace cables or springs
  • Old or worn out parts
  • Damaged garage door
  • Non-working garage door opener

The wire at the side of the door is loose and my door won’t open. Can you fix that?

This is a problem that we hear about quite often. To make sure we’re on the same page, we must first understand what you’re talking about when you say “wire.”

There is usually an electrical wire that low-voltage that is near the edge of the door and is attached to some sort of a button. This is one of the normal controls that operate a garage door opener. If it’s loose and “hanging around somewhere, then it’s a sure thing that the door won’t operate from the automatic garage door opener.

There should also be a cable on each the side of the door that cable runs from a bracket at the bottom of the door to above the top of the door and wraps around a wheel looking object. It’s a metal spool that’s connected to each end of a bar above your garage door.

These are two very different “wires” and will determine if we can possibly help you open your door over the phone.

Electrical Wire to the Garage Door Opener

Fairly simple to fix, but sometimes it may be difficult to either reconnect to the terminals or if it’s broken, we only recommend replacement. If a “splice” or repair of the electrical wire is done, it will likely always be the area of the wire that overheats first if that happens.

Cables

Those come loose for a number of reasons, and we will certainly attempt to identify what may have caused that. We can possibly repair that cable if it just came loose at a connection or we can replace it if it broke. It is important to determine why it may have come loose or broken though as that indicates that there was possibly more pressure on those cables than designed.

Our trained personnel carry the standard types of items on our vehicles that are commonly used on most manufacturers’ garage doors. When a contractor comes out unprepared, then it’s likely that it will take much longer to get your garage door repairs completed.

We may take just a little longer on the phone trying to better understand the problem about your garage door repairs, but it helps you in the long run to get your door operating again more quickly.
